PMP Certification Exam

In order to become a certified PMP, you will need to meet the education and experience requirements, and pass the PMP exam. Additional information regarding the eligibility requirements can be found in the PMP Handbook.

The new PMP certification exam based on both the 7th Edition PMBOK® Guide. It consists of 180 questions which must be answered within 230 minutes. Questions include a combination of multiple-choice, multiple response, matching, hotspot and fill-in-the-blank.

The exam is typically computer-based, and you can take it at any Prometric test center. A paper-based version is also available in limited circumstances. Calculators and scratch paper are provided at the testing facility.

The new version adds more focus on agile and hybrid approaches. Questions will now span just three domains:

  • People (42%)
  • Process (50%)
  • Business Environment (8%)

The PMP exam is administered by the Project Management Institute. The PMI is the leading professional association for the project management profession. It is a very challenging exam, and the PMI recommends that candidates devote significant time to reading and studying the material.
